Earth No More, new 3D Realms game and IP

Category: 3D Realms

It is not every day that you see 3D Realms announce a game. Last time was April 26th, 2005 when they (and 2K Games) announced Prey. But that was over 2 years ago. However it turns out that today was just one such day. Today 3D Realms has got a news story letting everyone know that the July issue of gaming magazine Game Informer has got a 4 page story about 3D Realms. Among the news in that story is that 3D Realms is working with game development studio Recoil Games from Finland on the game Earth No More. has previously pointed out that Earth No More is 3D Realms' newest trademark. Here are some quotes from the news posted at

"The development team is specifically moving away from what they call the 'lone hero,' while also avoiding a squad-based direction." "'We're going to design almost every weapon in the game to where it's going to have a sort of collaborative mode to it,' says Miller. One gun called the Linker works like a reverse proton pack from Ghostbusters." "The good guys aren't the only ones who can team up, however. Enemies are being designed to complement each other's skills as well." "The team is intricately analyzing how group dynamics work in movies like the Alien, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and 28 Days Later, hoping to emulate that kind of tension in game form."
But that is not all, there is a sidebar on Duke Nukem Forever that contains this new small screenshot from the game:
