Fan Art 2008 Submissions, and A Heads Up
This is just a reminder to all the artists out there--we are planning on a new fan art page for the year 2008, and are now taking in submissions.
Art can be submitted in any form, as long as it is presentable on our website. Videos, music, and images are acceptable; if you have something creative in the form of Flash or some other interactive application, that's fine too. There is really no limit to what you may submit given it is legally appropriate.
As always, Micki will be kind enough to handle art submissions, and may be contacted via his name @duke4.net. If you don't know what this means, you can also contact him via our team page. More instructions on the latter method of contact are available here.
Aside from that, you may have noticed that our updates have decreased to as little as only one or two news items per month. We hope to solve this issue by searching for news wherever we can find it. Meanwhile, a visit to our forums may behoove the most curious visitors.
I also wanted to take to take this opportunity to point out that we have new design plans for the main website and the forums, and thanks to RedSplat, we've already been able to streamline some of our bulletin board interfaces as to maximize functionality.
There has also been a new website theme in the works as of early this year, but we're going to need more manpower before it will see the light of day--that is, while the design is complete, we're going to need some help with the coding in order to make it public. If you're handy in PHP, I wouldn't mind if you contact us (in this case you may also e-mail me).
Furthermore, there are plans for expanding our network with additional fan websites. While I won't say much more, I can confirm that we've had an Aliens fansite under construction for quite a while. And while this may not be relevant to Duke Nukem, take into account that many of the people behind the Aliens game are former 3D Realms employees and still carry the "Duke spirit," so to speak.
Lastly, I wanted to bring up security on our website and point out that we have been receiving a lot of spam in the last week. All spammers will be reported to their Internet providers and may face punishment by law; in fact we're in the process of submitting some IP addresses to the appropriate authority in charge of Internet abuse. If you're a member here and feel that you've been receving spam through Duke4.net, please contact us immediately so that we may be able to assist you in preventing such issue from occuring again.
