Scott Miller Interview on Gamasutra

Category: 3D Realms
by Yatta, on Sat Aug 22 2009, 02:52AM

Gamasutra has an interview article up entitled "20 Years of Evolution."  Here's some of the meat of it, out of Scott's mouth:

...3D Realms is not closing. The internal development is no longer a part of this business, though. ...Our future is fine. We have, I think at last count, 11 or 12 projects in the works. One of them is coming out next week. Another one is coming out in about six weeks. Both of those are on the iPhone. We have some major games in production still. So we're fine. That's not an issue at all. ...The Max Payne movie came out last October, so that approach did pay off for us, and there is a Duke Nukem movie in pre-production right now.

So the Duke movie is not cancelled and is in fact in pre-prod.  And there's a good chance that a decent number of those "11 or 12" projects are Duke games, perhaps even ones we don't know about.

The first few pages of the interview deal with Apogee history and a lot of other things not having much to do with Duke, but it gets interesting in the later pages.  For example, I never knew Duke3D sold 3.5 million copies!
