3D Realms hiring? Impossible...

...but true.

UPDATE (24.06.2006) - We've been contacted by Charlie Wiederhold, who let us know that he "hadn't been a level designer for about 4 years". So the job offer has got nothing to do with his leaving.

George put up an ad a couple of days ago, looking for a level designer. Since you'd have to register on Gamasutra to view the ad, I've created a copy here.

Here's a couple of notes from the ad:

We are looking for level designers with the following attributes.

* Design. You need to love games and know what's fun, so you can implement fun missions and create moment to moment game play and combat encounters that people will remember.

* Visuals. You need to have a good eye for visuals and the ability to texture and light your levels to high aesthetic standards.

* Technical. You need to have a technical mind and critical thinking skills, so that you can maintain frame rate, script sequences, and adapt to complex technology.

* You will be creative, and continually impress those around you with clever implementations of game play and physics interactions. You will be easy to work with and have no problem collaborating with people. You will happily collaborate on levels with other people.
This gets total known open spots at 3DR up to three. The other job offers being for a Game / Senior Designer and a Programmer (both of which are open for quite some time now).
