New Site Content
Hello again, Dukers! We've added some new scans to the site today, including new fan and concept art images. We've got Micki to thank for hooking us up with two uber rare pages of DNF concepts and interview found in an unknown C++ Programming book:
Bet you didn't see those before! However, keep in mind they're very old and outdated. To top it off, here are the new fan art drawings from Micki:
Also, you may now directly access PC Gamer's short April 2005 article about DNF, using our Press Release page.

"We're in full production."
In today's 1UP.com Prey Interview, George Broussard was kind enough to spill some beans on the whereabouts of DNF's development.
GB: You know, we've been so busy on Duke Forever for so long that we can't really see past just finishing this game, but you never can tell when it's done, you know, what you want to work on next. Thanks George!
1UP: Wait, wait. You guys are working on Duke Forever?
GB: [Laughs] And ever and ever.
1UP: And when's that due out again?
GB: [Laughs] I think it'll be out when pigs fly. But it's definitely going well now. Things are together; we're in full production. We're basically just pulling all the pieces together and making the game out of it. There's a lot that's finished. All the guns are finished. Most of the creatures are finished. And as I said, we're just basically pulling it all together and trying to make it fun. We've kind of got all these disassociated elements that make up a game, and you put them together and things happen. And then you just tweak it and polish it until it's fun, and that's kind of the phase we're in now, just trying to make something that is really fun to play and interesting.
Duke Nukem 3D Trivia Contest!
Our very own Gamebrain has won the Duke Nukem 3D trivia contest. The contest was held by Charlie Wiederhold on his forum, Gaming is Stupid. There were about 15 people who played the game, but only five of them got a prize. The prizes include:
Signed copy of DNF + Signed Duke 3D mousepad
Signed copy of Prey + Signed Duke 3D mousepad
Signed copy of Max Payne 1 (PC)
Signed copy of Duke 3D Atomic Edition
Signed copy of Shadow Warrior
Whoever was the winner would win his/her choice of those five items. Gamebrain came out as the winner with 15 points! Here are the final standings:
Gamebrain: 15
Parkar: 12
Kristian: 10
Yossa: 7
Asmodeusz: 6
SyntaxN: 3
Micki!: 3
Kalki: 2
Kev_Hectic: 2
Parkar, Krisitan, Yossa, and Asmodeusz also got to choose one of the five items. Kalki and Micki won a signed mousepad.
Congratulations to everyone who won!
*EDIT* Kalki gets a mousepad, not Syntax.
SD_Duke Beta Released!
Ten years ago, the Duke Nukem 3D shareware was released. To celebrate this I thought I should release something; therefore a Beta version of a little mod Hellbound and I have been working on for the HRP is now available on the download page. The idea behind this mod is to fix things like the turning corpse of the Assault Commander, and add new effects and small gameplay tweaks. The mod will be included in future HRP releases, but since it is a mod it will still be possible to play vanilla Duke with the HRP.
In this beta version the monsters have pains kins and improved gore (like in the gore mod released on the 3DR message board), proper freezing with unique models for the frozen monsters, plus a bunch of other small changes.
Since this mod is very much in early stages, feedback on the effects such as "Too much gore, that looks stupid, could you add
StrifeToons Animated Series
3D Realms forum member A.K. is starting a new Duke Nukem animated series this year, where Duke, the Doom marine, and Commander Keen join together to go on different comical adventures in each episode.
"StrifeToons" is an animated series that I'm starting this year, following the adventures of Duke Nukem, Commander Keen, and Doom Marine (AKA the Doom Guy) and other computer game characters from the era of shareware. To view the Pilot Episode of StrifeToons, click the image below!
More episodes will be on the StrifeStrips site when they're done, hopefully at a rate of at least one a month! This episode took just under two weeks to make from scratch.
Suggestions for storylines/ideas/cameos, and new voice acting talent are welcome. Discuss them here or on the StrifeToons.com forums!
Alien TC Demo Teaser
The Alien TC, a game modification for Duke Nukem 3D, has been under development for a little below a year under the supervision of RustWell Productions. By working with the Eduke32 source mod, Mblackwell and Rusty Nails have been able to design a demo based on the Alien vs. Predator movie that surpasses the original Half-Life in terms of gameplay and technology. Tonight we bring you an exclusive teaser trailer of this impressive shooter, available for download only on Duke4.net:
Happy New Year!
All of us here at Duke4.net would like to wish everyone a safe and happy new year. Will 2006 be the year that Duke returns? We'll see! Here's a celebration gift drawn by Micki and colored by Kev_Hectic. Happy 2006!!
George Broussard Weapon Address
Tonight we actually have some interesting news to report on Duke Nukem Forever. Yes, this is official news that is relevant to the game--it has not been covered before, either. George Broussard was kind enough to throw us a bone over at the official DNF forums:
The Frederick: So you've followed Halo's lead and given the "grenades" their own button? Sweet. That was always one of my biggest disappointments about Doom 3, I never used grenades because I didn't like switching to them. There you have it folks! Until next time.
GB: Yeah. What we did was that if you just throw out a Pipe Bomb via the quick key, it goes out and detonates in a few seconds. If you want to throw it out and use the trigger, then you select it using the normal weapons interface.
We assume that if you are throwing a bomb out via the quick key, you really want it to go off, quickly.
So this enables you to toss out a few, quickly, in high stress situations, or throw one out via the weapon selection and be more sneaky about it.
